Sports Stars & Food Allergies

More & more of us are now finding out that we are suffering from various food allergies, but it is not just ordinary members of the general public who have to take care of the foods that they eat, everyone has to be careful now.

This has been highlighted by the fact that various sports stars are now looking at their diet to finds ways of reaching their full potential, but also to find out if eating certain types of food has restricted them from being able to compete at 100%.

One of those major sports stars who have looked at their diet is Novak Djokovic. Novak as we know is one of the greatest tennis players that we have ever seen, but a few years ago Novak looked at his diet to find a way of improving his performance as he was srtuggling with breathing and fitness during long matches.

Novak totally changed his diet and became gluten free which he has stated that this has helped him reach his full potential by becoming more careful in what he eats as he found out that, he does have  intolerances to certain types of food. By making the change in his food diet, he says that this is one of the contributors of him being able to reach the top and become a multiple Grand Slam champion.

Many other sports stars have followed his lead including Andy Murray to look at his diet seriously and to find out if food allergies or intolerances have effected his performance in anyway.

But it is not just by checking their diets to help performances, sport stars are like ourselves and they are just as in much danger as the rest of us, by  suffering allergic reactions to certain food types or that they are unaware that they food allergies or intolerances.

One of these cases has just happened in the USA where NFL star Adrian Peterson of the Vikings was rushed to hospital after suffering a severe allergic reaction to seafood while dining out. Thankfully Peterson is back to normal now, his coach at the Vikings Leslie Frazier has said that Peterson was not aware of any specific food allergies he may have had, but he had mentioned he had an allergic reaction to something he had eaten earlier in his life.

So like the rest of our sporting heroes have to be careful with what they eat and be aware of the foods in their diet  and notice if there is any difference in them at all (e.g bloating, tiredness etc,) once they have eaten any types of Food.

So if you have not done already please get yourself and your family  a food allergy & intolerance test, where you can find out if you do suffer from food allergies, thus meaning you can be sure that any problems you have with the foods you may eat would be flagged up.

Also if you do suffer from any food allergies please phone ahead if you are going to dine out in restaurants etc to find if they do cater for peiople with food allergies and if they do , is their a separate cooking station available when they prepare allergy free dishes, as this case shows an allergic reaction can happen to any of us.
